Autumn leaves at the shrine

Autumn leaves at Minamoto Shrine(水元神社) in Kawanabe(川辺).

The shrine is famous for the very clean spring water.

Minamoto means the origin of the water.

I visited the shrine in late autumn.

Koma-inu in Chiran

Koma-inu.

It is a kind of the gardian of Buddhism in East Asia.

This Koma-inu is in Toyotama-hime shine(豊玉姫神社) in Chiran(知覧).

Chiran is famous for a suicide attack base of WW2.

The front of mountain is Mt. Isoma(磯間嶽).

I ate the first rice of the year yesterday.

A dish of plain rice is the most delicious food in this season.

The day of Bon-odori

Saifuku-ji(西福寺), the temple of buddhism in our town, held a bon-odori party.

Bon-odori is a kind of Japanese traditional dance party which large part of local community members support or join.

Saifukuji runs a nursery.

The bon-odori party is also a festival of children in the nursery.

Mount Kaimon and the sea

Mount Kaimon(開聞岳) and the sea.

The mountain is called Satsuma-fuji, Mt. Fuji in Satsuma(Kagoshima).

Beautiful shape of the mountain deserves the name of Mt. Fuji.

A port of Makurazaki

Makurazaki(枕崎) is a city which is famous for katsuo-bushi.

Katsuo-bushi is the smoked bonito, traditional ingredient essential for Japanese soup.

If you visit Makurazaki, you will find the smell of katsuo-bushi all around the city.

Beautiful gradation of the sky

The night will come.

Recently, we have this beautiful gradation of the sky everyday.

The moment when the day time is ending.

The moment when the sun light got dissapeared slightly.

A small clothes store

Alongside route 226, there is a small clothes store in Kasasa(笠沙).

In the back, mount Noma(野間岳) can be seen.

I have ever thought it as grocery, but actually not.

The vending machine occupies more than half of the front of this store.

Before the dawn

When I take this photo, I was on the ship.

On the way to fixed fishing net, we were waiting for the sunlight,

looking at the moon above Cape Noma(野間岬).

The day before typhoon

According to weather news, a typhoon is going to come tomorrow.

The clouds passed through the mountain very rapidly.

The color of the sky is not ordinary.

A frog on the leaf of avocado.

Recently, I planted young avocado trees.

No one is trying avocado production except me in Nansatz.

Like a runway

A straight road to the sea.

The road divides the reclamation district by drainage into two section.

It's like a runway for the sky.

Ferns

I like ferns.

They are enigmatic, mysterious, and beautiful morphologically.

In mountains, there are a number of this plant everywhere.

And it often makes me gaze.

The road is beside the sea.

You can see spectacular landscape in the driving on the route.

The stone wall

The stone wall.

Around our house, you might see many stone walls.

I wonder when did it be built.

Probably, it has been since Meiji age.

The sea with shoals

The sea with shoals in Oura(大浦).

It is sand beach as far as you can see.

Beautiful beach without people.

Anytime, without people.

Vivid red

Fishing nets of vivid red.

When I was a walking in Nomaike(野間池), a small fishing port, I found it.

Fishermans can untie the net easily.

It's unbelievable.

Remember of Shugendo

This small hause is a religious facility of Shugendo(修験道).

Shugendo is Japanese folk faith for nature.

In Nansatz, in the past, many people were with Shugendo.

But now, the small house has been forgotten at all.

A ditch in reclamation district

A ditch runs for the sea.

Here is reclamation district by drainage.

Our town, Oura(大浦), was famous for the reclamation project in Showa age(昭和).

A very straight ditch and a horizon of pine trees.

Mt. Isoma

Mt. Isoma(磯間嶽).

It seems also head of the devil.

Strange shape of the mountain.

We see every day the devil, which is not scary, from our garden.

There are some houses in the foreground.

And rice fields, in the back.

Sea and mountains can be seen, in the further back.

Flower of unknown name

Among the road, I found these flowers.

But I don't know the name of the flower, which is maybe wild.

It shines,

in the sunlight of early summer.

Mowing the grass

A farmer is mowing the grass in the paddy field.

He doesn't use herbicides.

Surrounded by the mountains,

rice plants is growing.

Blue

From a viewing platform in Bohnotsu(坊津).

The blue sea and the blue sky.

It's banal words.

But we need no special words for the landscape.

A circle and a cross

The tile roofing in Takeda shrine(竹田神社).

The emblem with a circle and a cross is a symbol of Shimazu family.

They are the governers of Kagoshima for hundreds years before the Meiji Restoration.

On the shrine, Tadayoshi Shimazu(島津忠良) is enshrined.

A road on paddy fields

A straight road divides the paddy fields.

It's beautiful, the light green grass of rice.

The mountains behind is hazy by probably PM2.5.

Teppou-yuri

Teppou-yuri(Lilium longiflorum).

This plant is native to southern Kyushu.

In Nansatz, you can see the flower, which is planted or wild, everywhere.

Especially, it is often put at the tombstone.

Nioh statue

The Guardian deity of Buddhism, Nioh(仁王).

This stone statue is at the back alley of Kaseda(加世田).

The beauty of fierce carving.

White bigleaf hydrangea

White Bigleaf Hydraneas.

The rainy season has come.

In Japan, this flower is a symbol of the season.

Several colors bloomed in our garden.

A hill with a rock in the shape of turtle

The light of the sun from behind a hill, Kame-ga-oka(亀ヶ丘).

Kame-ga-oka means a hill of turtle.

There is a rock in the shape of turtle on the hill.

Now, the sun is about to go down.

Below of the arch

"Kimpou 2000 years bridge" (金峰2000年橋)

From below of the arch of the bridge,

that is made of laminated lumber, mainly japanese ceder.

It is one of the longest bridges of laminated lumber in Japan.

Loquat fruits

A loquat tree got the fruits.

It is a kind of Maloideae.

In my childhood, I ate many loquats from the tree around my house.

I love it.

A rock oven

 

Today, I got to be thirty one years old.

My family had a dinner at an Italian restaurant "L'ORO DI NAPOLI" in Kagoshima city.

There is a heavy rock oven, imported from Napoli.

Kagoshima city and Napoli are sister cities.

Kabocha squash

I harvested kabocha squashes.

They are pretty sweet and big.

My wife is trying to create a new recipe of the kabocha squash now.

This is so-called "winter squash", but we get it early summer in Nansatz.

A narrow pathway

Maybe it has been over hundreds of years.

My ancestors walked here supposedly.
